Birthday

Baby girl turned 1!!! (3 months ago).   She really likes going to the aquarium so we went for a Ocean Theme party.  Tom designed the the invitation decorated the octopus cake.

fish cake pops.  i got the idea here.  these were a disaster to make.  they took forever.  i had made more and it looked pretty good but i accidentally knocked it over and many broke.  it was very sad.

Her cousins Soren and Claire were more than to happy to help her open presents.

We made a little slide show and spent hours picking the "soundtrack." We barely had it ready in time and really it was only ready for the last 5 minutes of the party.  But it was still fun for me to go through all the photos.

Cake.  "Just...

a little...

Maybe a little...
bit...
more.

Need a quick drink...

Aaagh!"

Top off with some fishies... and were good.

This year has flown by.  I can't believe she is already 1 (now 15 months).
Here are some of the funny things she does...
  • She love's to play peek-a-boo and "Where's Emma?!"  She covers her eyes with your hands or any blanket or item of clothing
  • She puts both hands behind her head when she is really relaxing
  • She announces herself by clicking her tongue
  • When you ask her where her nose, bellybutton, or eyes are, she points to her sternum, however she just now started to accurately point to her head
  • She grabs her toes anytime she sees a pig for "This Little Piggy"
  • It's a bit annoying but cute... she loves to climb in and out of cupboards

    and my closet
    • She is definitely a daddy's girl
    • She loves baths
    • She loves turning pages in board books
    • She loves to put everything in and take everything out of baskets, buckets, and such
    • Loves, loves, loves crackers and cookies
    • I think her first word is "hi" but she says it with a lot of tongue and it sounds more "hah."  She also just started to say "duck."
    • She is a bit of a dare devil.  She loves going up and down big kid slides.

Baby girl we love you so much.

    Christmas

3 months later.  Here are a few pictures to prove that it actually happened...

    Our favorite present...
Don't mind her outfit.  She made a bit of a mess and those pants were all I had.
For Christmas she was pretty spoiled.  She got a lot of books, toy kitchen, toy piano, and this awesome Radio Flyer wagon (to name a few).
    Loving her Radio Flyer wagon
Of course the packaging they all came had most of her attention.

It is kind of nice doing our Christmas post so late.  It provides another chance to think about the birth of the Savior.   Emma... if you only learn one thing from me... I hope you will know, as I know, that Jesus is the Christ and He loves you.

    Halloween

    Carved by Tom
For Emma's first Halloween we went over to my brothers and Emma got to play with her darling duck cousin Claire.  Unfortunately she would not sit still for a good picture but you get the idea.

Thank you Shelia, Mike, and Sarah for Emma's first Halloween onesie.  She wore it all week!

Thank you Tanya and Erik for a fun Halloween!

    Catch-Up...October

So it has been quite awhile since my last post.  6 months actually.  That really isn't that long but it is actually half of Emma's life... so it does matter.  So I will do a little catch up...and I will start in October.

We were going to be out of town the week before Halloween and did not know if we were going to get a chance to dress up and go to a party so we decided to host our own.  Plus, I needed an excuse to dress Emma in her first Halloween costume.

We enjoyed a wonderful trip to New England at the end of October.  Our visit started with Granpa's annual Octoberfest party.

We were able to drive up the Maine coast to Acadia National Park with Granpa.  Emma was great and tolerated the 5 hour drive really well.  It was pretty much the last week before Bar Harbor closed for the winter, so we had it all to ourselves.  Here are a few of our favorite pictures.  We did make in time to seem good fall colors.

On our way out, we made our second attempt to get up to the top of Cadillac Mountain. At 1,532 feet it is the highest point on the North Atlantic seaboard and the first place to view the sunrise from October to March.

We also had a great time with Gramma.  She took us to the New England Aquarium and Emma loved it.  This was the first time we took the ferry into Boston, and I think the best way yet.
